2008 Have One On Us

18-Hole Tournament

Friday June 13

There are three "Have One on Us" Tournaments open to the public. There are separate 18-hole tournaments on Friday and Saturday. There is a 9-hole tournament on Saturday.

Registration - Reservations for all tournaments will be accepted at the Village Links Clubhouse on Thursday, June 5, 2008 starting at 5:00 p.m. All reservations must be made in person and applicants must be 18 years of age or older to obtain a starting time. Each person waiting in line will be limited to a starting time for one foursome. As always, a bank credit card will be required. After everyone in line on June 5 has been accommodated, the remaining starting times will be made available in person or by telephone at the Village Links Pro Shop, 630-469-8180.

The lowest male score and the lowest female score shot over the two days of tournaments will advance to the 18-hole Drawing. Those winners will be joined by the 8 handicap flight winners in a drawing by lot to award the following prizes:

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. Eligibility - 18 hole tee times from 5:30 a.m. thru 3:30 p.m. Friday; 5:30 a.m. thru 3:30 p.m. Saturday. 9 hole tee times from 5:30 a.m. thru 5:00 p.m. Saturday. Players are limited to one tournament entry. If more than one round is played, the first round will be considered the official entry. To retain IHSA athletic eligibility, high school students may not win Low Net or Low Gross prizes.

2. Fees - Each player must pay the appropriate green fee. There is no tournament or prize fee.

3. Handicaps - A USGA Handicap is required of contestants in the 18-hole tournament. The USGA Handicap must be registered with a golf course or regional golf association like the CDGA. Handicaps must be based on 15 or more scores and must be presented to the starter and verified by the Rules Committee.

4. Rules of Golf - The USGA Rules of Golf will govern all play, except as modified by the following local rules. Remember to notify a fellow competitor before invoking any rule.

5. Local Rules
a. Lost Ball: Proceed under Rule 27-1; or drop ball at point nearest where you think it is lost, add 2 strokes, continue play.
b. KEEP PACE will be enforced on the 18 hole course; slow play penalties will be assessed as warranted. A 2 stroke slow play penalty will automatically be assessed to:

Each member of a foursome finishing both the 9th & 18th holes

more than 10 minutes behind the group ahead
Or
Each member of a foursome that finishes the 18th hole more than 12 minutes

behind the group ahead, unless the foursome finishes in 4 hours or less.

6. The Golf Course
a. Male contestants will play from the white tee markers, female contestants will play from the red tee markers.
b. Out of Bounds (USGA Rule 27-1); Out of bounds is designated by white stakes or property fence. 18 Hole Course - Out of bounds exists to the left of holes number 5,6,10,15,16,17 & 18; beyond the green on holes number 5,14, & 17.
9 Hole Course - Out of Bounds exists to the left of holes number 2,3,4 & 5.
c. Immovable Obstructions (USGA Rule 24-4): include Halfway House, sprinkler heads, irrigation boxes, shelters, maintenance roads, cart paths, permanent yardage stakes, stone walls. Free drop within one club length of nearest point of relief no nearer the hole if lie, stance or area of intended swing is affected. Line of sight relief not allowed.
d. Ground Under Repair is designated by a continuous, connected white line.
e. Stones bordering lake banks are part of the hazard and are an integral part of the course. No relief allowed.

7. Lightning Detection System - Long Blast - play suspended; mark position of ball with a tee; seek shelter immediately. Alternating High/Low Blast - play resumes without delay; place ball in marked position and resume play.

8. Scorecards - Official scorecard must be attested and turned in at the scoreboard within 10 minutes of completion of the round.

9. Ties - All ties will be broken using the total score on the last 3 holes played. For net ties, strokes will be subtracted as they fall on the card. If the last 3 holes do not break the tie, a scorecard playoff beginning at the last hole played and continuing backward will be used.

10. Prize Drawing - The drawing for top prizes will be held at the Village Links Clubhouse, Sunday, June 15 at 1:00 p.m.

11. In all cases, the decision of the Rules Committee will be final.
